OGALLALA, Neb - The fifth annual Keith County Big Give kicked off this weekend, aiming to raise more than $325,000 for local nonprofit organizations by June 15—and early numbers show the community is already rallying behind the cause.
As of Monday morning, more than 40 individual donations had been made, totaling nearly $130,000 in contributions. The fundraiser, organized by the Keith County Foundation Fund in partnership with area nonprofits, provides residents, alumni, and supporters an opportunity to give back through one unified campaign.
The two-week event features an online platform—KeithCountyBigGive.org—where donors can make contributions to their favorite local organizations. Donations are also accepted by check, cash, or even commodity gifts like grain. A pool of at least $75,000 in matching funds will be distributed proportionally, giving each donation added impact. In addition to its financial goals, organizers hope to engage at least 500 donors this year, introduce new supporters to local nonprofits, and grow the campaign's long-term sustainability.
Daily and milestone prize drawings will keep the momentum going, including bonuses for the most dollars raised, most unique donors, and organizations showing the biggest growth over last year.
Organizers say the Big Give is more than a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of community unity. “By working together, we’re building a stronger, more vibrant Keith County,” said event representatives.
