
Douglas E. Mentzer, 65, of North Platte, NE passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Great Plains Hospital in North Platte. He was born on June 11, 1956 to Donald E. and Donna (Hall) Mentzer in North Platte.
Doug grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School class of 1974. In 2000, he met his wife Denise Mohr and they were married in 2001 in North Platte. He worked for most of his career in management with Mentzer Oil Company. He was a huge fan of all sports and an avid collector of memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; and by his former spouse, Berdonna Leeper (Matt).
He is survived by his mother, Donna; wife of 20 years, Denise; daughter, Amanda Hankla (Jeremy) of North Platte; son, Brett Mentzer (Kit) of North Platte; grandchildren, Benjamin and Amilia Hankla, Parker and Piper Mentzer; sister, Cindy Halligan (Dan) of North Platte; niece, Stephanie Riggins (Aric); nephews, Craig Freeburg (Erin) and Travis Halligan; aunt, Lorri Reutzel; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. The family requests Husker casual attire for the services. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, November 29th from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. with Father Josh Brown officiating at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
