    Patricia A. Bowers, age 93, passed away on March 15, 2024 at Kinship Pointe in McCook, Nebraska. 

    Patricia “Pat” Bowers was born December 31, 1930 to George and Vonda (McKibben) Paine in a little yellow house in Culbertson, Nebraska. 

    Pat married Alan B. Schellhase on June 9, 1949. The couple was blessed with a son, Steven who was born on Pat’s 25th birthday in 1955. Pat and Al lived in Wyoming before moving south of Overton, Nebraska where they farmed for several years. 

    Pat married Don Bowers on January 7, 1972. They made their home in Indianola, Nebraska. 

    Pat was a secretary most of her life working for the ASCS office and at McCook Community College. She was a 75+ year member of the United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for many years. She was baptized at the young age of eight in McCook, Nebraska.  She loved the Lord dearly and her faith never waivered even when her sight began to deteriorate and her independence was limited.  She was a woman full of wisdom and wit and maintained a great sense of humor. She was a faithful prayer warrior for many. Pat also loved to read and enjoyed knitting. 

    Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Al and Don; son, Steven; daughter-in-law, Anita; and stepdaughter, Denise Chavez.

    Pat is survived by her granddaughter, Stephanie Schellhase of Grand Island, NE; stepdaughter, Linda (Don) Morosic of Republican City, NE; stepson-in-law,  Louie Chavez of Trona, CA; step-grandchildren: Heather (Justin) Crawford of Orleans, NE, Breanna (Mark) Schukar of Overland Park, KS, Eric (Sally) Morosic of Lincoln, NE, Stephanie (Brett) Hoffman of Kearney, NE, Jeremy (Dawn) Chavez of Laveen, AZ, Jennifer (Chad) Brown of Alamogordo, NM and Jacqueline (Jason) Edney of Abilene, TX; 15 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Bob and Dee Brown and Tracy Zink. 

    Cremation was chosen and memorial services are scheduled for 1PM on Saturday afternoon, March 23, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Bob Brown providing words of comfort.  A private family inurnment in the Williamsburg Cemetery in rural Phelps County will take place at a later date.
