Joyce Bernice (Williams) Stupka passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses, Kansas. At the age of 92. She was born November 21, 1931 to Forest F. Williams and Martha Schilke Boyd Williams. She was born on the Family farm just east of Trenton, Nebraska.
Joyce was the youngest of a blended family with eight half-siblings and one brother.
Joyce married William Stupka in 1953 and from this union, two children were born, Cynthia (Stupka)Burton and Roger Stupka.
Joyce spent most of her adult life living in McCook Nebraska, where she worked for the soil conservation service for 38 years.
Joyce volunteered at McCook Humane Society for many, many years and was a cat lover .
Joyce enjoyed reading, playing her organ, and following the lives of her three grandchildren and their families; Will and Skyler, Charlotte, William and Harry Burton; Dustin and Kelsy, Aidy Burton; Callie (Burton)and Ryan , Daisy Fletcher.
Joyce was a fifth generation Lutheran and considered it her legacy to share her faith in God with her family.
Joyce is proceeded in death by her parents; eight half-siblings: Thurman “Slim” Boyd, Thelma “Tommy” Boyd, Nathan Boyd, Robert “Bobby” Boyd, Wayne “Hoot” Williams, Harold “Skinny” Williams, Lois Williams, Mildred Williams Magorian (Sis), her brother, Curtis Williams; as well as many dear friends.
Joyce is survived by her son, Roger Stupka of McCook and her daughter, Cynthia (Stupka) Burton and son-in-law, Ray Burton of Ulysses, Kansas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM on Monday afternoon, June 24, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Brad Rick officiating. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook will follow services. No formal visitation is scheduled; viewing will take place at the church prior to services.
