A Structure (residential wood frame) with flame showing from windows and front door on arrival, all occupants out. FF extinguished the main fire in approximately 25 minutes. Salvage and overhaul were extensive due to interior conditions, structural integrity issues, and further hampered by the freezing temperatures. Additional MA for overhaul personnel called in from Grant and Big Springs. No injuries were reported to IC. Structure is standing but not habitable.
Smoke detectors were not sounding on arrival. NeSFM investigating but preliminary report states electric space heater as probable cause. Photos courtesy of KC EMS from the rehab area. We would like to thank the area residents who also brought hot coffee and refreshments to the responders. Approximately 34 FF were on scene. Ogallala apparatus back in service at 2030 hrs.
