NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday, May 27, at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse in North Platte, with a full agenda that includes a public hearing on a tourism grant, infrastructure projects, and employee benefit changes.
Commissioners will consider claims and treasurer’s receipts, file a fee report from the county sheriff, and review a right-of-way application from Great Plains Communications.
A public hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. to receive public comment on a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Tourism Development application for the Las Mañanitas Community Advocates project. Following the hearing, the board will consider adopting Resolution No. 2025-11 to authorize the county’s chief elected official to submit the grant application.
At 9:30 a.m., the commissioners will recess and reconvene as the Lincoln County Board of Equalization. That agenda includes approval of the May 19 Equalization meeting minutes, certificates of correction and refund, motor vehicle tax exemption applications, and property valuation change notices numbered 2025-001 to 2025-004.
The board will resume its regular session at 9:40 a.m. to consider a contract with Western Engineering for Project LCDOR 2025-01. Additional items later in the meeting include an update at 9:50 a.m. from Paul Ottinger regarding the proposed annexation of Pal’s Brewing Company property by the City of North Platte.
At 9:55 a.m., commissioners will discuss whether to incorporate dues for the Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO) and National Association of Counties (NACo) starting in July.
At 10:05 a.m., the Lincoln County Benefits Committee will present a recommendation to switch the county’s dental insurance provider from Ameritas to Blue Cross Blue Shield effective July 1. Commissioners may also consider amendments to previous insurance plan documents and whether to sign a continuation agreement with Ameritas for the 2025–2026 term.
Other agenda items include the potential purchase of two replacement snowplows for 10-cubic-yard trucks, action on zoning enforcement for a property near Curtis, and reappointments to the Nebraska International Port of the Plains Board of Directors.
Finally, the board will consider making Barry Johnson a full-time county employee, retroactive to May 16.
The meeting is open to the public. The Board of Equalization meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m., immediately following the public hearing.
