NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed the week of May 12, 2025, as Peace Officers Memorial Week, with Peace Officers Memorial Day to be observed on May 15.

Ceremonies will be held in North Platte to honor local law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The proclamation recognizes the ongoing service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers who work to protect families and maintain public safety across the county.

“On Peace Officers Memorial Day and during Police Week, we honor our brave officers who serve on the front lines to protect our families, safeguard our communities, and shoulder a burden of responsibility that most Americans cannot fathom,” the proclamation reads.

Officials said the week serves as a reminder to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as to show appreciation for those who continue to serve.

Events in North Platte are expected to include a memorial service at the Law Enforcement Memorial in Iron Horse Park on Wednesday, May 14 at 11am.
