
Wendie McKinley, 55, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away June 12, 2022 at her home in North Platte. She was born July 15, 1966 to Wilfred and Virginia (Lee) McKinley in Gallup, New Mexico.
Wendie grew up in Gallup and graduated from Tohatchi, New Mexico, High School in 1985. She met Edwin Estrada in New Mexico, and to this union Hannah and Edwin were born. She lived in Utah for a brief time. In 2013, she moved to North Platte. Wendie worked at various hotels as a housekeeper for several years. She prayed every morning, enjoyed cooking and especially making her Navajo tacos, and everyone loved her fried bread. She was very social, loved get-togethers with family and friends. If she could not be with them in person, she was talking to them over the internet. She was very active with in her Coyote Cannon Community and was a part of their monthly meetings. Wendie loved to travel and listen to music, especially Native American Church music and rock and roll. She was very loveable and treated everyone the same. Anyone that met her took a liking to her instantly. As a child, she played football and favored the Dallas Cowboys as an adult.
Wendie is survived by her children, Hannah McKinley and Edwin Estrada Jr.; grandchildren, Ty McKinley, Ethan Thomas, Audrick Thomas and Daniel Thomas; brothers, Ivan McKinley and Varian McKinley; uncles, Lorenzo James and Herman James; aunt, Margie Jarvison; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wilfred and Virginia; grandmother, Marie James.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Private family services will take place at the Victory Church of God.
