Gary Lee Farmer, 77, of North Platte, Nebraska passed October 2, 2023 at his daughter’s home in North Platte. He was born April 26, 1946 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Eldon and Mary (Powers) Farmer.
Gary graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1964. He entered the US Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam. Gary was united in marriage to June Paxton on November 13, 1971. The couple lived in North Platte where Gary started his career with the Postal Service, where he worked for 28 years. After his retirement he continued working for a contract mail service. Gary was very family-oriented, especially favoring his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved animals especially his horse, Fancy and her mother Cindy, along with his pup, Charlie.
Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his daughter, Letitia “Tish” (Craig) Dailey, North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Logan (Alisa) Dailey, Lingle, Wyoming, Colton (Ericka) Dailey, Belle Fourche, South Dakota; great grand-children, Cora Leigh and Owen Lee (coming soon); brother, Tuck (Joan) Farmer, Stapleton, Nebraska; Sisters-in-law: Rose Pyzer of California, Judy (Bill) Cox, St. Louis, Georgetta Paxton. Texas, Polly (Louis) Siegel, Stapleton, Nebraska, Pat (Rocky) Nicholson, Hershey, Nebraska; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; parents-in-law, Von (May) Paxton; sister-in-law, Bess Aupperle, niece, Sheila Shafer; brother-in-law, Leonard Pyzer.
Memorials are suggested to the family in Gary’s name.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Bethel Church, North Platte, Nebraska with Pastor Geoff Safford officiating. Burial will follow the service at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. There will be a luncheon served at the church following the burial. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M.- 7, with family receiving friends from 5-7, Thursday, October 5 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
