Ronald August Stahla, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska went to Heaven on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington.
He was born on November 24, 1940, in Kimball, Nebraska to August and Sarah Stahla. He was the oldest of four children. August was a self-taught county surveyor. Ron helped his dad with surveying and farming. Ron graduated high school from Kimball in 1959 and enrolled at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. While at college, he married the love of his life, Mary, and they had four children: Peggy, Rock, Russ, and Jenny.
Ron graduated with a Master’s Degree in electrical engineering and the family moved to Washington state to begin working for the Boeing Corporation. In 1970, Ron and Mary returned to Nebraska to work with their family in the mobile/modular housing industry. The year 1976 found the family heading to Lexington to venture out on their own, building a business and supplying homes for dozens of families. They continue to do so today.
Ron had many passions in life. He loved to fly and experience life from the air! He used his engineering mind and hands to build airplanes and a helicopter. He also had a passion for the land and greatly enjoyed their farm, providing grass, crops and cows. As Ron seasoned in life, his love for and appreciation of God continued to grow. He became very passionate about knowing God and making Him known to others. If he could speak to us today, he would say he's never felt more alive and wishes the same for you. Probably the greatest passion for Ron was his family. He found great joy in having them around him, living life together.
Ron is survived by his first love, Mary, celebrating 62 years of marriage this past September; four children, Peggy (Neil) McDaniel of Wray, Colorado, Rock (Nancy) Stahla of Grand Island, Nebraska, Russ Stahla of Girdwood, Alaska, and Jenny (Matt) Ainsworth of Ennis, Montana; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends.
