While the secret may have slipped early, Paws-itive Partners is eager to announce a big change for the 2027 Paws on the Platte art event.  Following successful dog-themed art in 2018, 2021 and 2024, organizers said the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, and Paws on the Platte will shine the spotlight on cats.

"It's time to celebrate cats and the people who love them," said Paws-itive Partners president Jo Mayber.  Commenting on the early buzz, Mayber noted that the species switch to cats has generated enthusiasm and excitement.

Although the Paws on the Platte finale is months away, it takes time to design and manufacture the cat statues, secure sponsors, allow plenty of time for artists to paint their masterpieces and other details of planning.

Paws on the Platte is an art event that has been generously supported by the community.  The one-of-a-kind cat statues are revealed and displayed throughout North Platte and eventually sold at a competitive live auction.

All proceeds from the Paws on the Platte auction directly support Paws-itive Partners' ongoing mission to curb dog and cat overpopulation in Lincoln County.  Every year, the non-profit organization helps hundreds of pets in lower-income homes, as well as unowned cats, through financially assisting to spay and neutering.
