Karen Eileen Davison of Lincoln, NE passed away at home on Monday, July 29, 2024. Karen was born on April 28, 1956, to John and Barbara (McGahan) Olivigni in Oxford, NE. The family eventually moved to Lewellen, NE where she attended public schools and graduated from LRHS in May 1974.
In June, 1972, Karen met her future husband, Larry Davison, at a cattle branding located near Oshkosh, NE. Larry joined the Army in March 1973. Karen and Larry were married in Ogallala, NE on June 15, 1974. They made their first home together at Ft. Bliss Texas (El Paso) until January 1975. Larry received orders to report to Camp Humphreys, South Korea in December 1974 and Karen went with him and they stayed in Korea for 14 months.
They returned to Ogallala in 1976 and later moved to North Platte. On January 22, 1981, they welcomed their daughter Alyssa Ann Davison into this world. Shortly after, they moved to Ft. Sill, OK so Larry could attend more military training. After the training they moved back to North Platte until the spring of 1982, when Karen, Larry and Alyssa moved to Chadron NE to attend college. Karen and Larry both graduated from CSC in December, 1985. Karen graduated with summa cum laude honors.
While Larry was attending another military school at Ft. Sill, OK, in 1986, Karen got a job with the Social Security Administration in Lawton, OK. Eventually, she applied and was hired by SSA in Lincoln, NE and they moved to Lincoln in 1987. In 2011, Karen retired from SSA and went to work for a local law firm until Larry retired and they moved to Clermont, FL. It was always her dream to live by the ocean and that is what she did for three years. Eventually they moved back to Lincoln to be with family, friends and doctors in 2023.
Karen enjoyed traveling, gardening, attending concerts, with Bon Jovi being at the top of the list. She and Larry attended two Bon Jovi concerts during the same weekend a few years ago. Karen and Larry loved Disney World and visited as often as they could. Karen was especially proud of the medal she earned for completing the Walt Disney World half-marathon. She also liked visiting Sunken Gardens in Lincoln, reading, spending time at the beach with her two sisters each year, playing board and card games and was a skilled Mahjongg player, playing online and in local groups in Florida and Nebraska. She also was a member of a local bible study group in Lincoln. She was an avid supporter of the Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, NE. Karen liked dogs and absolutely loved her Pomeranian, Riley!
Karen is proceeded in death by her parents, father-in-law Clarence Davison, brother-in-law Don Davison, and sister-in-law Pearl Davison.
Those she left behind are her husband Larry, daughter Alyssa and fiancé Mathew Kister, Riley (Pomeranian), sisters Lisa Olivigni, Lorna (Steve) Triplett, brother Fran (Lynne) Olivigni, mother-in-law Doris Imogene Davison, and brothers-in-law Rod Davison, Steve (Kay) Davison, Kevin Davison, Kent (Jeannine) Davison, and Monte (Shawna) Davison, many nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel on 10:00 am August 16, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
Inurnment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
