NSAA Special meeting summary

On Monday, Aug. 3rd the NSAA board of directors held a special meeting via ZOOM chat in order to discuss the plans for a fall sports season. The board broke it down sport by sport to analyze specific needs. 

Football: 
     - According to Nate Neuhaus will start on time. Practices to begin Aug 10. 
     - Adding games not on the schedule would be possible, but would not count towards playoff seeding
     - NSAA agrees to keep a list of teams and officials available to play every week
     - Games that are postponed (not replacement games) will count towards playoffs
     - Metro area schools still hesitant to start on-time. Want to start preseason workouts Aug 31. 
     - Possible for schools who don't qualify for the playoffs to keep playing during the playoffs to get games in
     - NSAA Voted 8-0 to keep season starting as normal

Volleyball: 
     - No major changes came from today's board meeting
     - NSAA voted 8-0 to keep season starting as normal with pre-established COVID requirements (social distancing, sanitize equipment, etc)

Softball: 
     - NSAA recs for softball season: Schedules must be set by 8/20. Covid-affected games are no-contests. Replacement games won't count for wild card points.
     - NSAA voted 8-0 on Softball recs and to move forward as planned

Cross Country
     - Staggered starts for XC possible with chip timing. Widening courses should happen. Recommends Class A going back to two district sites for this year only.
     - NSAA voted 8-0 on XC recs and to move forward

Girls Golf
     -  No exchanging or signing of scorecards 
     -  Elimination of scoring monitors at districts and state
     - NSAA Voted 8-0

Boys Tennis
     - No significant changes
     - NSAA voted 8-0 to move forward

Transfer rules
     - NSAA will not change transfer rules due to the pandemic
      - Afraid it will cause more problems later

Finally, the NSAA board gave Executive Director Jay Bellar authority to make any COVID related decisions without needing to call a meeting.
