Stolen Vehicle Alert Leads to Drug Arrest in North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — A stolen vehicle alert led to the arrest of a Colorado man on drug and theft charges Saturday morning in North Platte.

According to the North Platte Police Department, officers received a FLOCK automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) camera alert at approximately 8:15 a.m. on January 24 indicating a vehicle reported stolen out of Lakewood, Colorado, had entered the city.

Officers responded to the south side of North Platte near the Interstate 80 Exit 177 interchange, where the vehicle was located at a business in the 100 block of Holiday Frontage Road. Police established a perimeter and made contact with the driver.

The driver was identified as Michael C. Jorgensen, 58, of Lakewood, Colorado. He was detained, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl.

Jorgensen was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property valued over $5,000, a Class IIA felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a Class IV felony.

He was transported to and lodged at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
