Police catch 2 men burglarizing North Platte home

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-Two North Platte men have been arrested after police said they caught them burglarizing a home.

Police said at around 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of East 10th St. on the report of a burglary in progress.

Police said officers arrived and located Ryan Gabel, 33, and Russell Smith, Jr., 38, with a vehicle backed up to the home removing items from inside the residence.

Officers investigated further and learned that neither subject had permission to be in the residence or remove property.

Police determined there was probable cause to arrest Gabel and Smith on suspicion of burglary. They were jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
