Gary Palu (1943-2020)

Clarence "Gary" Palu, age 77, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away, Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Centennial Park Village in North Platte.

Gary was born on July 11, 1943 in Holyoke, Colorado to Clarence Gary and June (Benson) Palu. 

In 1949 the family moved to Madrid, Nebraska to the Palu Family Farm. He graduated from Madrid High School in 1960. Gary enlisted in the United States Navy for a brief time.

Gary returned to Madrid where he met Lynette Crist and the two of them were united in marriage on July 9, 1965.  They made their home in Madrid. From this marriage they welcomed 2 daughters, Jody Palu born in Grant, Nebraska.  They then moved to Hettinger, North Dakota, where they welcomed their second daughter, Paula Palu.  Gary and Lynette didn't like the extreme snow storms, so they moved back to Ogallala, Nebraska in 1966. He worked for Simons Construction and retired in 1992. 

He resided in North Platte, Nebraska at the Centennial Park Village in North Platte, where he resided until his passing.

Gary is survived by his 2 daughters; Paula Crum, of Ogallala, Nebraska; Jody Palu, of Lincoln, Nebraska; 3 sisters; Karen (Don) Brogan-Chandler, of North Platte, Nebraska, Linda (Dana) Corenelius, of Grant, Nebraska, and Jo Ellen Peterson, of Drake, Colorado; 3 brothers; Bruce (Pat) Palu and William Palu, all of North Platte, Nebraska, and Paul Palu, of Madrid, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren; Jadda Crum; Hannah Crum, both of Greeley, Colorado, Jacob Crum, of Loveland, Colorado, Brandon Palu, and Josh Stone; and 1 great-grandchild, Kaiser Stone, all of Lincoln, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Visitation will be held, Monday, November 2, 2020 from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (MT) with family greeting friends from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. (MT) at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala, Nebraska. 

A Graveside Service will be held, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Grant, Nebraska with Rev. Chuck Rager of the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala officiating. 

A memorial has been established in his memory.
