
Rick Leibert, age 65, of Sargent, Nebraska passed away on January 13, 2023 at the UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary's Catholic Church in Sargent, Nebraska with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Sargent. Memorials are suggested to Sargent Rescue & Fire or the donor's choice. A visitation will take place on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. until service time. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com.
After graduating from high school in Sargent, he attended Peru State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business. Upon graduating, Rick lived in St. Louis, Missouri and worked as an auditor for Site Oil Company. After three years, he returned home to farm with his Uncle Marlin.
In 1984, Rick and Rosemary Smolik were married. They made their home on a family farm northwest of Sargent, Nebraska. To this union, one son, Eric, was born.
Rick was passionate about the farm. He liked to teach the grandchildren and show them around the farm. He enjoyed working with family and watching sports.
Rick enjoyed car races, visiting, fishing at the campground, and playing cards with his dad, brothers, Steve, Tim, and Terry, and their families.
April 19, 2022, Rick was grateful to receive a bilateral lung transplant at UNMC in Omaha.
Rick is survived by his wife, Rosemary of Sargent, Nebraska; son, Eric (Sarah) Leibert of Berwyn, Nebraska; grandchildren, Damian Hill, Shasta & Miah Handley, Ryder, Eric and Victor Leibert, Trinity Bruha, Izaiah Frye, and Estelle Leibert; brothers Tim (Terri) Leibert and Terry (Terese) Leibert; sister-in-law, Linda Leibert; brother-in-law, John Smolik; aunts coni Bomberger, Gaylean (Clifford) Olson, and Vicki (Chuck) McCarty; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steve Leibert; sister-in-law, Yvonne Leibert; and uncles Marlin Bomberger and Reid Wells.
