The North Platte Police Department in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Nebraska Department of Transportation, will participate in the “Make it Click” high visibility traffic enforcement campaign from May 15th through May 31st, 2026. The main focus of the campaign is passenger restraint laws.

An observational survey involving 100 vehicles was conducted on May 11th, 2026 in North Platte. The survey showed a seatbelt, compliance rate of 86%, which is still below the national average of 91%.

In 2024, 68% of Nebraska traffic fatalities were not wearing seatbelts. National statistics showed that 9,758 unbuckled, passenger, vehicle occupants died in 2024.

The North Platte Police Department encourages drivers to buckle up, before driving anywhere.

North Platte Police Department to Partake in “Make it Click” Traffic Enforcement Campaign
