NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-After numerous problems experienced by supervisors at North Platte High School activities, school administrators are reminding parents and students alike of expectations at activities.

The following message was distributed by administrators:

In order to make sure we have safe and enjoyable experiences at our activities, we are wanting to communicate some expectations and guidelines for both indoor and outdoor events hosted by NPPSD.

  1. All K-6 students must be accompanied by an adult and will not be admitted into the game without an adult present. Parents/guardians will not be allowed to drop their student off at the game without accompanying them for the entirety of the event. All K-6 students will be expected to sit with their parents or guardians during the contest, and students found to be running around without supervision will be asked to head back to their seats.
  1. Students in grades 7-12 must sit in designated student sections.
  1. Loitering or horseplay will not be allowed in commons or concessions areas.
  1. Attendees are not allowed in non-designated activity areas.  This includes the grass area southwest of the stadium, the area east of the football field, and hallways/classrooms not designated for the event.

This year, we have had several negative student interactions at games, which is a direct result of students and parents/guardians not following these guidelines. One of these incidents required medical attention from accidents that occurred during unsupervised play.

When students are present and unsupervised, several concerns arise that present safety issues for adult

patrons, visiting fans from other communities, and our students.  It is our goal that anyone attending NPPSD activities does so in a safe and enjoyable way.  If your child comes with you to a NPPSD athletic event, they are to be in the gym/stadium stands watching the game with you throughout the evening. This should ensure the safety of all who are attending NPHS athletic events as well as keep NPHS facilities safe and clean for our janitorial staff. Thank you for taking the time to read this and your assistance in this matter.
