Update:

North Platte police say the vehicle that crashed into a home early Saturday morning was stolen.

Police say on January 9 at 12:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to a property damage accident near West 2nd Street and Buffalo Bill Avenue.

It was reported that a vehicle had just struck a house.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and discovered it to be unoccupied.  After investigation, it was determined that the Silver 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling eastbound on West 2nd prior to the accident.

Investigators say as the vehicle crossed Buffalo Bill Avenue, the driver failed to navigate the turn, went over the curb and subsequently struck the house.  The house sustained extensive damage and the vehicle was a total loss.

A witness indicated to police that, after the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled on foot.

Officers made contact with the owner of the vehicle and determined that the vehicle had been stolen from the 3900 Block of West 2nd, just minutes before the accident.

Police say, at this time, the driver of the vehicle is unknown and the incident is still under investigation.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the North Platte Police Department or Lincoln County Crime Stoppers.
