On January 25, 2024, Bonita “Bonnie” Lee Maddox, of Wellfleet, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.  She was born to Jack and Gwen (Oyster) Eyster on June 24, 1945, in Sunbury, PA.

Bonnie grew up in Lakewood, CO and attended Alameda High School where she was part of the drill team.  After high school, she attended Central Business College in Denver.  In 1966, Bonnie married John Helmut.  They lived in Sterling, CO with their two children, Tia and Todd.  In 1980, she married Richard Maddox.  The couple lived in the surrounding North Platte area from 1981 until present day.  Bonnie worked as a paralegal for many years.   After raising her family, she became a licensed commodities broker.  In 1996 she joined Professional Financial Advisors as a Series 7 licensed financial agent.  Her job was like a second home and the people she worked with were always family to her. Bonnie loved getting to know people and establishing relationships with the clients she met through work.  She retired in 2021.  Never one to let others do things for her, Bonnie took pride in being independent and in her accomplishments.

Bonnie enjoyed crocheting and collecting angels.  She was an animal lover and enjoyed the farm life.  The Christmas season was her favorite time of the year as she cherished time spent with family.  She had a kind, forgiving heart and could always see the goodness in people.  She viewed everyone as equal and was always thankful and accommodating to those around her.  Faith was important to Bonnie and God was her rock; she found her strength through her Faith.

Those that survive her include her husband, Richard of Wellfleet, NE; son, Todd (Kasey) Helmut and their children Kaitlyn and Allison of Wichita, KS; sister, Jacqueline Sauers, nephew, David Sauers, and niece, Angela Sutton, of Denver, CO; and other family.

Preceding her in death are her parents and daughter, Tia Helmut.
