Connie B. Larson, 83, passed away on July 20, 2024 at Gothenburg Health. She was surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. 

She was born on June 8, 1941, in Sylva, North Carolina, to William and Evelyn (Bodenstab) Mahaffy. Connie went to school in North Platte until her family moved to Lincoln her junior and senior year, where she graduated from high school in 1959. She also spent a year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On December 26, 1960 she married Richard Larson in North Platte, NE. They moved to Gothenburg in 1964 where they made their home and raised their family. She worked at Jobman's and Nebraska Salt and Grain during her career.

Connie enjoyed antiquing, spending time with family and friends, attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities, enjoying coffee and lunches with friends, as well as actively participating in volunteer work for the museum, meals on wheels, scouts, and Jaycees. Her church family was very important to her and she was on many committees over the years. 

Connie and Dick were named grand marshals of the Harvest Festival Parade in 2019. She will be remembered for her strong spirit and unwavering commitment to both her family and the community.

Connie is survived by her loving husband Richard Leon Larson; children Debbie (Dirk) Rubenthaler, Todd Larson, John Larson; grandchildren Joey Rubenthaler, Kayla Bittner, Cody Larson, Stephanie Bundy, Amanda Jensen, Christopher Larson, Noah Larson; great-grandchildren Kade, Levi, Jack, Aubree Rubenthaler; Brenna and Ella Bittner; Dax Bundy; Evelyn and Charlie Larson; Wesley Jensen. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Julie) Mahaffy; brother-in-law Royce Larson; sister-in-law Barb (Kern) Harshbarger.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Evelyn Mahaffy, in-laws Leonard and Gladys Larson, great-grandson Levi Rubenthaler; nephew Scott Mahaffy and sister-in-law Lennie Larson.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, July 25, 2024, 4:00 - 7:00 pm with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Gothenburg, NE, Friday, July 26, 2024 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Grace Gichuru officiating. 

Burial will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or the Gothenburg Senior Center.
