Lois May Joan Baker, 93, of North Platte, NE passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital. Lois was born on May 28, 1931 in Cedar Butte, South Dakota, the daughter of Theodore and Iva (Frazier) Hougham.
Lois was a hard worker throughout her life. She worked as a waitress and hostess at the Elks Club in North Platte, and later cleaned and painted houses in the local area. For a short time, she owned and operated the South Side Liquor Store. Lois was a very good cook, baker, and seamstress. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her first three husbands, Marlyn Wilcox, Robert Masters, and Robert Britton. She was also predeceased by sons, Shephen and Charles Wilcox; daughter, Michelle Masters; infants, Wonda and Terry, and 2 infants at birth; brother, Everett Hougham; and sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Morrissey, and Marie Beckley.
Left to cherish her memory are her 4th husband, Charles A. Baker of North Platte; children, Ronda Schultz of Cheyenne, WY, Stanton (Brenda) Wilcox of Brunswick, OH, Marlyn (Ellen) Wilcox of Alliance, NE, Danny (UnChu) Wilcox of Lakewood, WA, Teresa Silcox and Mary Masters both of NE; 27 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and 37 great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Lois’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Parkview Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Dynette Oberg officiating. Inurnment will be private in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
