North Platte man arrested in connection with assault, robbery

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A North Platte man has been arrested in connection with an assault and robbery.

According to North Platte police, on August 13, 2020, at 12:49 p.m., officers responded to the 2300 Block of East Philip for an assault. Police say it was reported that a male subject had been assaulted and possibly cut with a knife.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim and several witnesses.

According to police, officers were told that 29-year-old Jeffrey Denson came to the residence and asked to speak with the victim. Officers were told that a disagreement occurred and Denson began assaulting the victim.

Witnesses reported that, during the assault, Denson produced a small knife that was used during the attack. Officers observed injuries to the victim that were consistent with the witness and victim statements.

Police say officers also learned that a small amount of money was taken from the victim during the incident.

Denson was located shortly after the incident near H and Chestnut Streets and was taken into custody without incident.

Police say during a search of Denson's person, prescription pills were located as was the money that was taken from the victim.

Denson was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center on suspicion of 2nd-degree Assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, robbery, and possession of a controlled substance.

The victim suffered minor injuries during the incident.
