Larry D. Messersmith, of Maywood, Nebraska passed away November 8, 2020 in North Platte, Nebraska.
Larry was born April 29, 1942 in Hayes County, Nebraska to Lewis Ivan and Annabel (Kugler) Messersmith. He was living in Maywood, NE at time of death.
He graduated high school at Hayes Center High School. He served in the US Army from June 1961 to June 1964 in the 1st Infantry Division and was a Vietnam Veteran. Larry married Janice Ann Berry at Oberlin, KS on August 3, 1963. To this union was born four children: Danny Ray, Brad Lee , Van Duane , and one daughter Vicky Dee.
He was baptized into Maywood Christian Church on August 20, 2003. Larry was a certified Babe Ruth Baseball Manager and a decorated Military Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 272 at Maywood, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Dorance and unborn infant child in 1965 and a son Danny Messersmith.
Survivors include his wife Janice; 2 sons; Brad and Van, daughter Vicky and Gaylen Huntley; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and extended family numerous nieces and nephews, friends; Mary Jones of Idaho; Eric and Tami Ludeman of Colorado; John and Rachel Miller of Culbertson, NE. He will be missed by numerous family and friends as he's laid to rest in Maywood Nebraska Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be held, Thursday, November 12, 2020; 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Maywood Christian Church.
Private Funeral services will be held for the family.
Public Graveside services will be held at the Maywood Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
