Roselyn I. (Krueger) McFarland, 80, of Windcrest, TX, passed away December 14, 2025. She was born July 9, 1945 to Herbert A. and Elnora K. (Wangen) Krueger in Albert Lea, MN. Rosie attended a one-room country school for a period of time growing up in Minnesota and later in St. Louis. She eventually moved to Kingdom City, MO, where she spent much of her time helping on the family farm alongside her dad. She graduated from Fulton High School and then became a proud graduate of the University of Missouri. She also spent time as a grad student at the University of Nebraska where she learned to love the Huskers as well.
On November 27, 1970, she was united in marriage to Robert D. McFarland in Lincoln, NE, and was blessed with two sons and a daughter. Rosie was proud of her children and their accomplishments. She was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte where she and Bob resided for the majority of their lives. In her later years, she served on the Board of the Lincoln County Historical Museum where she played an integral part in helping to launch the Christmas Village.
Rosie loved traveling, reading, genealogy, her family and pets, but above all she relished being active and playing in the dirt. While she started her time in North Platte as a Physical Education Teacher at NPHS, she found her true calling upon opening McFarland Greenhouses which the family operated from 1977 to 2011. The plants that she grew and loved could be seen lining the streets of all of North Platte or adding spice and flavor to some of the most delicious dishes of local restaurants. She was named Businesswoman of the Year in 2001.
She is survived by her three children, R. Brian (Stephanie) McFarland of Bayard, NE, Gregory (Heather) McFarland of San Antonio, TX, and Jody (Travis) Lawson of Pleasant Hill, CA, as well as grandchildren Jonah Lawson and Barrett Lawson of Pleasant Hill, CA, and Abigale McFarland of San Antonio, TX. She also leaves behind sisters, Kathryn Jensen, Carol (Carl) Lee, and brother, Charlie (Linda) Krueger as well as numerous beloved step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
