
Maxine Pace, age 93, of North Platte, passed way at Great Plains Health on September 15, 2021.
Maxine was born to Earl and Edna Grover in Filmore County, NE, on August 7, 1928. She grew up in North Platte where she graduated from high school in 1946.
On November 10, 1946, Maxine married Walter Pace in North Platte. They lived in Wellfleet on a farm for a couple years, then moved to North Platte.
Maxine went to work for the Lincoln County Welfare Office in 1952 and retired from the State of Nebraska Department of Social Services in 1988. After retiring, Maxine and Walter spent 15 years in Prescott, AZ, then returned to North Platte.
She had been a member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in the women's church circle and Judson Club. She was a member of the Cody Square Dancers and an auxiliary member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and D.A.V.
Maxine loved square dancing and attended four National Square Dance Competitions just for fun. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and sewing. Maxine will always be remembered for the love she had for her family and baking the most amazing apple pies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Earl and Edna Grover; brother, Glen; and infant sister, Irma;
Survivors include her daughters, Eileen Meyer, of Omaha and Theresa (Tom) Deckert, of North Platte; grandchildren, Jason Meyer, Kevin (Amy) Meyer, Shannon (Wes) Altstadt, Greg Hill and Scott (Kenna) Hill; six great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and a step great great-granddaughter; and many other family members.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Odean
Colonial Chapel with Brett Hathaway officiating. Burial will follow in
the Morningview Cemetery at Wallace. Visitation is prior to the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in
