Barbara Andrews (1935-2021)

Barbara Andrews, 86, of Kearney passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Brookestone Gardens in Kearney. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Michelle Holley Carlson and Rev. Dr. Rick Carlson officiating. Interment will follow at the First Lutheran Church Columbarium.

Barbara Lou Rock was born March 15, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Reinhart and Violet (Stubbe) Rock. She was raised in Kalamazoo, MI. She lived in Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Nebraska. For the past 22 years she lived with her daughter Pam and her family. Barb was a writer and authored over 60 novels, including 40 plus in partnership with her daughter, Pam Hanson. Barb was a nationally known postcard collector and writer.

Barb was a lifelong Lutheran. She was involved in raising money for Lutheran World Relief through many postcard auctions. In her spare time, Barb enjoyed making collage art.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pam Hanson and husband, Ralph of Kearney, Joan Andrews of Phoenix, AZ, Stephen Andrews and wife, Chris of Norwalk, IA, and Mark Andrews and wife, Royale of Waukee, IA; 8 grandchildren, Erik, Andrew, Matt, Haley, Ariadnae, Tyler, Kasey and Reese; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews, as well as, many extended family and friends, including her friend/caregiver, Mary Fitzke.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Rock; and sister, Judy Ward.
