James "Jim" Glenn, 78, of Ogallala passed away Monday, December 22, 2025 at his home in Ogallala surrounded by his family.
Jim, was born on May 10th, 1947 in Minden, Nebraska to Merion and Euarda (Hansen) Glenn. He attended Minden Public Schools and graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1965. He started dating Dorothy Olson as a freshman in high school. He and Dorothy were married August 26th, 1967 while both were students at Kearney State College.
Jim earned his bachelor's degree in business education from Kearney State in the spring of 1969. They moved to Gering, Nebraska in the summer of 1969 to start their careers and their family together. Their son Jason was born in 1971, followed by son Jeremy in 1973.
Jim taught business classes at Gering High School for seven years. A summer job as a bank teller turned into full-time positions at Gering National Bank and Pioneer Savings & Loan. In 1985, the family returned to Minden where Jim was a loan officer at the First National Bank.
An opportunity at First National Bank in Ogallala moved the family in the fall of 1990. When Jim got out of the banking business for good, he held a number of different community-oriented positions: interim city manager, working for the Ogallala Chamber of Commerce, and serving on the board of the Mid-Plains Community College Foundation. He eventually returned to education, teaching mornings in Paxton and afternoons at Ogallala High School.
After retiring from teaching, Jim spent time volunteering at the Perkins County Veterinary Hospital trying to socialize the rescue dogs. Over the years, he enjoyed watching his sons play and coach basketball, participating in antique tractor pulls, and spending time outdoors. Jim was an active member of the United Methodist Church, and a faithful member of the Cowboy Capital Consulting men's group associated with the church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Merion and Euarda, an infant sister Carol Jean, and his wife Dorothy. He is survived by his two sons Jason of Ogallala and Jeremy of Charlotte, NC.
