Jody Rae Ryan, age 70, of North Platte, died October 20, 2023 at her home. She was born on January 10, 1953 in North Platte, to Tom and Bonnie (Baker) Anderson.
Jody graduated from North Platte high school with the class of 1971. She moved to Utah after graduation. After returning to North Platte, Jody attended Mid Plains Community College. She began working at Valley Vending and worked there for many years. Jody then worked for Great Plains Health, and retired from that career in December 2016. In 1990, Jody married Larry Gipe in Estes Park, CO.
Her family was the center of her life. Jody was a longtime foster parent, and had many children under her care through the years. Jody loved to travel, especially going with Larry to Sturgis every year on the motorcycle.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of North Platte; 11 children, Eric (Kim) Ryan of North Platte, Brandi Wright of Lisco, NE, Justin Gipe of Scottsbluff, Sylvia Smith of North Platte, Tyler Gipe of Benkleman, Crystal (Brett) Gartrell of Dickens, Jessica Lamb of Charlotte, NC, Tina (Kent) Kuchera of Bassett, George (Season) Gipe of Kearney, Dayton Gipe of North Platte, and Holly Gipe of North Platte; a favorite son-in-law, Tracy Rotter of Oshkosh; 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and a brother, Vernon “ Sparky” (Cynthia) Ryan of Ft. Collins, CO; and numerous other family members and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Shianne Thompson; great grandchildren, Isabella Rochelle Gartrell, and Osmund Mark Thompson; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
