
Helen Horst, age 99, passed away on April 13, 2021 at North Platte, Nebraska.
She was born on May 15, 1921, the fourth child of six to Stephen and Michaelina Rendzak in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Helen graduated from the Helen Fleisher Vocational School of Philadelphia with a degree in Home Economics. She met her husband, Arlo Sylvester Horst (World War II and Korean War Veteran) of Mission, South Dakota on a blind date in Philadelphia, and they were married on November 10, 1951.
she moved to Mission, South Dakota in 1951 where she resided until January 5, 2005. She moved to North Platte, Nebraska and became the longest resident of Linden Estates Assisted Living Center - 16 years.
Helen loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and ministered through prayer to dozens of residents and staff throughout the years.
She is survived by a half-sister, Marie Rodney of Yardley, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Arlene (William) Markley of North Platte, Nebraska; grandsons, Jeff (Sophie) of Grand Island, Nebraska and Robbie Markley of North Platte, Nebraska; and great grandchildren, Hazel and Elliot Markley.
A private family funeral service was chosen. The burial will follow at North Platte City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
