Marie Jones, age 86, of Broken Bow, NE passed away on June 29, 2023 at her home in Broken Bow with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Third City Christian Church in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Valley County Hospice or to the family.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.with family greeting friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Govier Brothers Morturay in Broken Bow, NE.

Marie Elizabeth Ritterbush Jones was born on February 26, 1937 in Hay Springs, NE to Harold Ritterbush and Bernice (Wood) Ritterbush. The famly moved to Chadron, NE and later to the Gates area before moving to Broken Bow, NE where she graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1955. Marie married Darrell Lee Jones on February 27, 1956 at the First Christian Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Hubbell, Jr. officiating. The couple made their home in Broken Bow. Three children were born to this union: Rick, Jodeen, and Randy.
Marie enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and sewing clothes for her family. She made many beautiful blankets and doilies. She was known to have won the Powder Puff Derby at the Stock Car Races; and Darrell and Marie loved to dance, even winning the dance contest at the local bar. They loved playing cards with their friends, especially Pinochle, and going bowling. Marie was an avid bowler and she participated in the City and State Tournaments for 53 years.
Marie worked as a cashier at Safeway for many years and when the stored closed in Broken Bow, she went to work at the Grocery kart. After retiring, Marie worked at the City Café part time. Marie's greatest joy when she retired were her family, playing cards with the girls, and her word search puzzles.
Marie is survived by her children, Rick (Deanna) Jones of Broken Bow, NE, Jodeen (Anthony) Dennis of Berwyn, NE, and Randy (Jeri) Jones of Broken Bow, NE; six grandchildren Mike, Amber, Jeromy, Teresa, Zach, and Jenna; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruby Poirer of Arizona; sisters-in-law Glenda Ritterbush of Wyoming and Dottie Winbolt of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law Don Jones of Ansley, NE; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her parents, Harold and Bernice; two great-grandsons Evan Cunningham; and Elijah Jones; two brothers, Doug Ritterbush and Wayne Ritterbush; in-laws Lawrence and Beatrice Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Darlen and Loren Wolsleben; sister-in-law, Marge Jones; brother-in-law, Swede Winbolt, nephews Danny Clifford, Doug Clifford, Dennis Wolsleben, and Doug Jones; and a niece, Candy Jones.
