Mark Christopher Matson unexpectedly passed away at age 45 on August 22, 2023, in North Platte, Nebraska.
Mark, the son of Randy and Christine Matson, was born February 24, 1978 in North Platte, Nebraska where he grew up. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1996 and received his Associates Degree from Mid Plains Community College in '98. Mark went on to work for Profit Systems in Ogallala, Nebraska, then hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad, working in Transportation.
Mark married Joni Van Boenig and they welcomed two children, Andrew and Emma. He later married Jamie Frye and they had two children, Ryker and Grace.
He enjoyed traveling and camping and attended Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in North Platte. Mark had his pilots license and understood computers so well that he could rebuild them for family and friends.
Mark will always be loved and remembered as a loving son, brother and
father. He was good at cracking jokes and making people laugh; his
laugh and smile will be missed forever.
He is survived by his children, Andrew and Emma of Wallace, Nebraska and Ryker and Grace of North Platte, Nebraska; his parents, Randy and Christine of North Platte, Nebraska; sister, Angela (George) Adams and nephew, Wyatt, of Madrid, Nebraska; and other family.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Berean Church in North Platte, Nebraska with Pastor John Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte. Visitation is Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST and with family greeting from 4-6 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore in North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Mark Matson Memorial Fund for
