Cole Wayne Welliver, 70, of Ogallala, formerly of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, Nebraska.
He was born on April 16, 1954, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Vernon "Doc" and Elleanor "Ellie" (Dodge) Welliver. He attended school in Lexington and graduated from St. Ann's High School with the class of 1972. Cole lived in Lexington his entire life until 2021, when he moved to Ogallala.
Cole was an avid sports fanatic, with his favorite teams being the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the New York Yankees. If he wasn't watching sports, he was watching some of his favorite old cartoons. Cole loved going to the local bowling alley, where he spent over 18 years as scorekeeper for the bowling leagues.
Survivors include his niece, Samantha (Shad) Mann of Brady, Nebraska; nephew, Travis (Chrystal) Welliver of Valentine, Nebraska; great niece and nephews, Trevor Mann of Brady, Nebraska, Mariah Welliver of Lead, South Dakota, and Andrew Philbrick of Valentine, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Phyllis Welliver of Lead, South Dakota; special friends, Larry and Tish Daugherty of Lexington, and his Bowling Alley buddies.
Besides his parents, Cole was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Welliver.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
