North Platte, NE – The City of North Platte has announced that it has dismissed the  condemnation proceedings against the Pawnee Hotel, owned by HPNP, LLC. The decision  follows productive discussions with Mr. Jay Mitchell, the owner of HPNP, LLC.

To ensure the safety and integrity of the historic building, the City and Mr. Mitchell have agreed to conduct a comprehensive building inspection before the end of October 2024. The inspection will assess the property’s condition and identify any necessary action on the property owner’s  behalf, as required by the International Property Maintenance Code, 2018 Edition, as adopted  by the City.

The City of North Platte values the Pawnee Hotel’s significance as a local landmark and is  committed to progress by working collaboratively with Mr. Mitchell to preserve its historic  character. Following the inspection, the City and property owner will develop a plan to address  any identified issues and ensure the building’s continued viability.
