Frances L. Hilker was born in Vernon, Texas on October 21, 1936 to Bud and Eva (Stanfield) Nunn. She attended school in Vernon and graduated with the Vernon High School class of 1955.
Not long after graduating high school, Frances made many trips to McCook, Nebraska to visit her sister, Dorothy Marie Wilson. On one of these trips, she met Theodore Hilker. Frances and Ted were united in marriage in McCook and Frances would call McCook home for most of her adult life. Frances kept busy cleaning countless houses in the community. She was happiest when working in her yard and caring for her beautiful flowers. Frances enjoyed listening to all types of music, usually while enjoying a nice cold Dr. Pepper. She loved all animals, but cats always held a very special place in her heart.
Frances passed away on Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2024 at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman, Nebraska. She was 87 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; sister, Dorothy Marie Wilson; and brother-in-law, Allen Wilson.
Frances is survived by her son, Ted Hilker of Trenton, Nebraska; as well as a large extended family including many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11AM on Wednesday morning, January 17, 2023 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
