NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — One of North Platte's signature summer events is set to return next month as Rail Days brings four days of railroad-themed attractions, exclusive tours and family activities to the community.
Hosted by the Golden Spike Tower, North Platte Rail Days will take place August 6–9, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Bailey Yard, the world's largest railroad classification yard, through a variety of unique events and behind-the-scenes experiences.
Visitors can take guided bus tours through Bailey Yard, enjoy panoramic views from the Golden Spike Tower, participate in Twilight Tower Tours, explore one of the region's largest model train shows, and visit the Whistle Stop Kidz Zone. The event will also feature railroad exhibits, shopping, food vendors and activities for all ages.
VIP Experience tickets are currently available for guests looking to enhance their visit with exclusive access and additional benefits. Because availability is limited, organizers encourage those interested to purchase tickets early.
"Rail Days celebrates the incredible impact the railroad has had on North Platte and our nation's transportation system," said Kelley Barner, executive director of the Golden Spike Tower. "Whether you're a lifelong railfan, bringing your family for a weekend adventure, or discovering Bailey Yard for the first time, Rail Days offers experiences you simply can't find anywhere else."
Located above Bailey Yard, the Golden Spike Tower provides visitors with a bird's-eye view of the nonstop railroad operations that have made North Platte a destination for rail enthusiasts from around the world.
