Donna Jean Collins (aka Grandma Pete), age 90 of North Platte passed away January 11, 2023 at Linden Court. Donna Jean was born November 7, 1932 in Wellfleet, Nebraska to Oscar A. and Rachel W. (Hall) Amstuz.
Donna Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Rachel Amstuz; husband, Raymond H. Collins Jr; (Pete); daughters, Connie Fleck and Pam Abegg; sisters, June Kugler; Verla Goforth; brothers, Doug, Marvin and Junior Amstuz; brothers in law, Bob Thomsen, Deloit Messersmith, Wayne Kugler; great-grandsons, Conner, Colten, and Dawson Gentry; mother and father-in-law, Raymond H. and Burnell Collins Sr.; and brother-in-law, Rick Collins.
Survivors include daughter, Sue (Steve/Mick) Fleck; son, Tom (Susan) Collins; sons in law, Matt Fleck and Donnie Abegg; sisters, Veda Thomsen, and Joan Messersmith; sister-in-law, Frances Amstuz; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mom’s (Grandma Pete’s) favorite saying was “the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise…” and now the creek has risen.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be noon – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
