
Melanie LaVoy Hall, age 60, passed away peacefully January 11, 2021, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska due to complications from COVID-19.
Melanie was born October 22, 1960 in Callaway, NE to parents LeRoy and Nancy Wonch. She moved to North Platte with her family in 1966. Growing up she attended McDonald and Cody Elementary Schools and North Platte High School.
As a teenager, she was a member of the “Freedom Train Singers.” She was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, belonging to the youth group and participating in the youth choir “Happy Sounds.”
In 1977 she married Rocque Went; to this marriage a son, Cory Lee Went was born. In 1986 she married Wayne E. Hall; to this marriage a son Joseph A. Hall was born.
Melanie completed a Pharmacy Tech course and received certification. She was employed by Wal-Mart Pharmacy until her health forced her to retire.
Melanie will always be remembered for her avid book reading, love of history and her enjoyment of talking with family and friends.
She is survived by her son; Joseph Hall of North Platte, NE; sister, Christie Roenfeldt of Grand Island, NE; brother, Michael (Jeremi) Wonch of Gardner, KS and their son Seth Wonch of Overland Park KS; niece, Hilary (James) Liegl of Grand Island, NE and their son Thomas Liegl; and her mother, Nancy Arney of North Platte, NE; along with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son; Cory Lee Went; father, LeRoy Wonch; and both sets of grandparents.
A private graveside service will be planned at a later date.
Book signing will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on January 18 & 19, 2021 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, Nebraska.
