Norm Trosper, 78, passed away at the Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge, NE on June 11, 2024.

Norm was born on May 18, 1946 in McCook, NE to Fred and Nellie Jean (Williams) Trosper. Norm graduated from Cambridge High School in 1964. He graduated from Nebraska Vocational Technical School in Milford in 1966 with an Associates degree in auto-body technology. Norm had three children from a previous marriage - Tammy, Deb, and Amy. He married Joyce Kohlmeier on May 24, 1977. Joyce had four children - Dain, Ann, Dusty, and Becky, whom Norm later adopted. They enjoyed 47 years together before Joyce passed away just last month.

Norm had numerous business ventures over the years.  He owned the Trosper Body Shop from 1966 through 1972, sold Amway, co-owned the Sun Downer Bar in 1973, and took ownerships of the Trosper Dairy Crème in 1976, worked with his brother at the body shop and for his dad at the Phillips 66 station.  He finished his career with the Cambridge Co-op.  He then pursued his love of catering and feeding people by starting Two Men and A Grill. He donated meals to the Cambridge football team after home games, catered for the Furnas County Livestock Association and Medicine Creek Days, provide many meals to local patrons during their lunch hour, and too many events and functions to count. Norm served in numerous capacities, such as the chain-gang for Cambridge football, Furnas County Weed Board, Cambridge Cemetery Board, Cambridge Fire Department, and the Cambridge City Council, just to name a few.

Norm was a hard worker with a fierce personality. He was known to so many as Stormin’ Norman. He was also a generous person, even if he couldn’t afford it. Norm loved country dancing with his friends and family, was an avid hunter of just about any wildlife, and loved fishing.  He was a motor-cross competitor and a gun safety trainer to local chapters.  He taught his kids at a very young age to race motorbikes and shoot competitively.  Norm loved watching his kids and grandkids compete. Most of all, Norm enjoyed having his family together, which was difficult to do with everyone spread across multiple states. Still, it was Christmas that was a special time for the Trosper bunch. The entire family was blessed to be together this last Christmas, not knowing it would be the last one as a complete family.

Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; and his parents, Fred and Nellie Jean Trosper.

Norm is survived by his daughter, Tammy Sexton (Bob), Cambridge, NE; son, Dain Trosper (Shawn Williamson) Princeton, TX; daughter, Ann Trosper, Cambridge, NE; daughter, Deb Ledesma, Urbandale, IA; son, Dusty Trosper, Lincoln, NE; daughter, Amy Haussler (Kurt), Holton, KS; and daughter Becky Ladwig, Fort Calhoun, NE; his brother, Don Trosper (Janet), Cambridge. NE; sister, Connie Mount, Gering, NE; numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Norm is also survived by his grandchildren: Matt Sexton (Casey), Kayla Mashek (Brian), Mary McAtee (Phil), Jake Williamson, Seth Trosper, Kyra Trosper (Jarred), Gabrielle McGowan (James), Joey Ledesma, Austin Ledesma (Finn), Adelaide Wolf, AJ Haussler, Faith Haussler (Blake), Sammie Ladwig, McKenna Ladwig, Krista Sayer (Jay), Kate Marty (James), and 21 great-grandchildren.

Norm chose cremation, and his celebration of life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Cambridge Community Building in Cambridge, NE.  There will be a private family Inurnment.

In lieu of flowers, if you’re so inclined to make a donation, the Trosper kids will be purchasing a memorial bench in honor of Norm and Joyce to be placed in city park.  Online condolences may be left at lockenour.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge.
