Alvin Raymond 'Al' Rothmeyer (1935-2021)

Alvin Raymond 'Al' Rothmeyer, age 85, resident of McCook, Nebraska passed away at  Community Hospital  of McCook on April 6, 2021.

Al was born in Cedar Bluffs, Kansas on July 8th, 1935 to Alvin (Bud) and Mary (Sughroue) Rothmeyer. He attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School in 1953. Al served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea from October 21, 1953 until October 20, 1955.  He then transferred to the Army Reserve serving out his enlistment. 

Al was married to Ruth Karen Janisch and to this union five children were born: Steven, Judy, Deborah, Jacquelyn and David. 

Al farmed south of Indianola, Nebraska. He owned and operated his own AGR Commodities business in McCook. Al was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, McCook Eagles and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, and socializing with friends. 

Al was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Mary; son, David Raymond Rothmeyer; step-grandson, Andrew Burrell; siblings, Lorene Phillips and Gary Rothmeyer; brothers-in-law Ted Phillips, Dean Lawson and John Jones. 

Al is survived by Ann Macfee of McCook, NE, his companion of 25 years; children, Steven (Sherri) Rothmeyer of McCook, NE, Judy (Joe) Haverland of Perham, MN, Deborah (James) Rice of Wappapello, MO, and Jacquelyn Rothmeyer of  Albuquerque, NM; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Dolores Lawson of Hays Center, NE, Anne Jones of Grand Island, NE, Wayne (Judy) Rothmeyer of Las Vegas, NV, Larry (Sandra) Rothmeyer of Leavenworth, KS; and sister-in-law, Connie Rothmeyer of Olive Branch, MS.

Memorial Cremation Service will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, NE on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM.  Inurnment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in McCook, NE with Military Honors.  Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.  Memorials may be left in Al Rothmeyer's name at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel.  Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook, Nebraska entrusted with arrangements.
