Velda Mae Lambert, age 83, of Lincoln, NE, formerly of McCook, NE, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at her home in Lincoln.
Velda was born July 20, 1940 in Cheyenne County, KS to parents, Harold and Ona (Beeson) Edmonds. She was raised in Benkelman, NE, relocating to the area when her parents bought a hotel there. Velda was one of three children and graduated from high school in Benkelman, NE with the Class of 1958.
On May 18, 1960, Velda married Clarence Eugene “Gene” Lambert in Marysville, KS. The couple was blessed with four children. Outside of being a mother, Velda took great pride in her career as a teacher. Her career began at a small country school when Velda was in her early 20s and continued her entire life. Velda enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, knitting and was also an avid Cornhusker Fan.
Velda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Lambert; and her two brothers, Floyd and Jim Edmonds.
Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Rick (MiSuk) Lambert of Lincoln, NE, Peggy Lehr of Culbertson, NE, Judy Lambert and Cindy Lambert, both of Lincoln; as well as three grandchildren, Kimberly Lambert, Mellisha Lambert and Richard Lambert.
