Daniel Lane Koch, 70, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away March 20, 2024 at his home in North Platte.  He was born July 4, 1953 to Edward J and LaVera A. (Williams) Koch in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Dan graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1971.  He entered the Army in 1972 where he was a military policeman stationed at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. Dan received an Honorable Discharge, then went to Hawaii for a short time where he purchased his beloved 1969 Harley Police Special “Old Black.”   Upon returning from Hawaii, he and Old Black traveled across the United States from California to Maine, down to Key West, and back to Nebraska. In May of 1978, he hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  He was united in marriage to Lisa Coffman in 1991.  Dan was a member of the American Veterans’ Motorcycle Club for 35 years.  He enjoyed riding Harleys and his time running trains for the Union Pacific. Dan loved his club brothers, classic cars, bluegrass music, and his “Attack Morkie” Tater.  Dan will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, Lisa (Jesus) Fresquez, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Desirae Coffman, North Platte, Nebraska and Gary (Luci) Koch, North Platte, Nebraska; 13 grand-children, Isaiah, Terrell, Calvin, Jamall, Lebron, Alex, Maylina, Rosalie, Ezekiel, Joclynn, Kaden, Dylan, Silas; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Michael D. Koch, Boise, Idaho, Susan (DeAnn) Koch, Nashville, Tennessee; along with numerous other family members, friends, and club brothers. 

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and LaVera Koch; brother, James E. Koch.

Memorial services will be at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.  Interment will be 1:00 P.M. following the service at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska with full military honors.  Visitation will be from 12-7 with family present from 5-7, Tuesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
