Doris L. Peters, 91, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2023 surrounded by her family at her home.
Doris was born on March 25, 1931 to Fred and Pearl Latimer in Maywood, NE.
At the age of 9, she and her parents moved north of North Platte, where she attended country school. She moved to North Platte to attend high school, graduating in 1948. She met Eugene Peters and they were married on July 20, 1952 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte, where they were members. She worked as a bookkeeper for North Platte Pack and O’Conner’s Drug Store until her retirement in 1978. She was a member and past president of the DOES #109.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; sisters and husbands, Leona (Jack) Reilly, Dorothy (Ernest) Cox, and Elizabeth (Donald) Lawler; brother and spouses, Clarence Latimer (Evelyn and Devona); nephews, David Lawler, John Cox and Dwight Cox.
Those left to celebrate her memory are her son, Scott Peters of North Platte; grandsons, Corey (Vanessa) Peters of Weatherford, TX, and Landon (Elizabeth) Peters of North Platte; great- grandchildren, Hunter, Braelynn, and Tallin; special friends, Lorie and Foster McDaniel of North Platte, and Connie Dye of North Platte; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other close family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12th , with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
