Thedford Volunteer Fire Rescue Press Release
On 9/14, at 1138, Thedford Volunteer Fire Rescue was paged by Region 26 Emergency Management to a report of smoke SW of Thedford, near Windmill Rd and Diamond E Ln.
Thedford initially responded with grass rigs T20, T21, and T27 with 6 personnel and Tender T45 with 1 personnel. While en route to the scene, Seneca was requested for dispatch, Seneca responded with T23 and 2 personnel.
Initial units arrived on the scene declaring the fire now named the Black Diamond, very actively spreading north. Thedford Incident Commander requested mutual aid be paged from Mullen, Stapleton, and Tryon VFD's, as well as Thedford VFD's second Tender T44 and 1 grass rig from Brownlee respond. T44 responded with 1 personnel and T24 responded with 2 personnel.
After additional resources from Seneca, Thedford, and Mullen arrived on scene, Brownlee, Stapleton, and Tryon units were advised they were no longer needed and returned to their stations. After the Black Diamond Fire was contained, Mullen units were returned to service.
Thedford Fire Incident Command declared the fire contained and extinguished and returned to service around 1540.Thedford units returned to service around 1630. Black Diamond was contained at 138 acres.
