The Nebraska wrestling program added a pair of transfers to its 2026-27 roster with Lucas Cochran joining the Huskers from Penn State and two-time All-American Anthony Echemendia transferring from Iowa State, head coach Mark Manning announced this week.
Cochran, a native of Perry, Utah, competed at Penn State for five seasons and compiled a 36-8 record while serving as the primary backup at 197 pounds.
Cochran prepped at Box Elder High School, where he was a four-year letterman and two-time captain. He finished his prep career with a 169-17 record and multiple Utah state titles.
Echemendia, a native of Cabaiguan, Cuba, began his collegiate career at Ohio State before transferring to Iowa State, where he became a two-time All-American. He compiled a 59-15 career record over five seasons.
In 2025-26 at Iowa State, Echemendia posted a 23-5 record, including a 9-2 mark in dual competition, earning a runner-up finish at Big 12 Championships and All-American recognition with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
During the 2023-24 season, he captured the Big 12 title at 141 pounds with a 24-6 record, placing fifth at the NCAA Championships to secure his first All-American honor.
