Joan Mills

Joan Marie (Baumfalk) Lytle Mills was born April 25, 1934 in Hitchcock County to Alvin and Hannah Pollmann Baumfalk and entered Heaven on November 3, 2022.  Alvin passed away when Joan was only nine years old.  Hannah later remarried Harry Hein and two more brothers and a sister were added to the family.
Joan graduated High School from Culbertson and lived in the Culbertson and the McCook area her entire life.  On March 16, 1952, Joan married Donald Lytle.  To this union three boys were born: Rod, Steve and Tim.  In 1961, Donald was killed, as a result of a stock car accident.  Joan was 27 years old and left with three little boys to care for with the help of her wonderful family.  On October 24, 1963 Joan married Gary Mills and they were married until his death on July 24, 2014.
Joan worked several jobs including Bud and Nicks, Recreation Unlimited, Spot Liquor, McCook Eye Clinic and Willow Lanes.  Joan loved bowling and taught many how to bowl.  Joan also loved fishing, doll collecting, playing bingo and farkle.  (And she excelled at all of those)!  She loved her pets and was especially close to her last cat, Snoopy.  Joan was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, mom, mom-in-law, grandma and great grandma.  She dearly loved her family and so enjoyed her time with them.  She took time to cook with her grandkids and played many games with them.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Alvin Baumfalk, Hannah and Harry Hein; husbands, Donald Lytle and Gary Mills; in-laws, Clark and Emma Mills and James and Helen Lytle; brothers, Kenneth Baumalk and Gerald Hein; brothers- in-law, Donnie Moore, Edward Trupp, Larry Wickham, and Glenn Lytle.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Rod (Sandy) Lytle, Steve (Diane) Lytle, Tim (Michelle) Lytle all of McCook; special niece, Jeanie Mintzmyer of Duncan, Oklahoma; six Grandchildren: Jeremy (Ashley) Lytle, Chris Lytle, Josh Lytle, Tanner (Emily) Lytle, Tenielle (Barto) Yelkouni, Krista (Matt) Gregg; nine great-grandchildren: Kaylee Lytle, Connor Lytle, Easton Lytle,  Roman Lytle, Briella Yelkouni, Lilya Yelkouni, Felicity Yelkouni, Bethany Yelkouni and Ava Gregg; brothers, Eugene (Cleta) Baumfalk and Robert (Jan) Hein; sister, Janice Kraus; brother-in-law, Jack (Sharon) Lytle sisters-in-law, Julie Lytle, JoAnn Wickham, Elaine Moore, and Barb Hein; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
