Betty Jean Celesky, age 88, of Waverly, Nebraska passed away December 15, 2020 at her home in Waverly.
Betty Jean Hickenbottom was born in Westerville, Nebraska on June 23, 1932. After attending high school, Betty was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse and worked for a telephone company in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Betty married John Celesky and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she worked for Security Mutual Life. The pair then moved to Waverly, Nebraska and Betty was employed at Montgomery Wards Warehouse as well as continuing to provide care for her two children. Betty provided care for her husband, John, later in life and was grandmother to five grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Leonard and Goldie Mae (Bellinger) Hickenbottom; a granddaughter, Lauren Celesky; a sister, Rosa Lee Hamilton; brothers Chuck Hickenbottom and Mick Hickenbottom; and by her twin at birth.
Betty is survived by her son, Mark (Lori) Celesky of Ceresco, Nebraska; daughter, Diane Celesky of Lincoln, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Lindsey, John, Hunter and Lara; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Hickenbottom of Ansley, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Reed Hamilton of North Platte, Nebraska; nieces & nephews Dave (Loretta) Hamilton, Verla Hamilton, Scott (Mary) Hamilton, and Steve (Karla) Hickenbottom.
Graveside service will be Monday, December 21st at 1:00 pm at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Thedford, Nebraska with Pastor Les Parmenter officiating.
