
Marilyn Elizabeth Robertson was born on July 28, 1935 to Harry and Pauline (Weisflog) Witte. She grew up south of Crookston on the family ranch with her parents and Grandparents. Harry kept her busy in her early years as his unofficial first-born son, getting the milk cow in, helping in the hay field and lots of other chores. She was followed by 3 other siblings- Elaine, Don and Yvonne. She attended grade school at District 45, 3 years of high school in Seward at Concordia High School and her senior year back at Crookston High School. She then got her teaching certificate at Chadron College.
While teaching school in South Dakota, she met and married Wayne Cornish. They had 2 children, Linda and Scott. Later, Marilyn met Raymond Robertson and they married on July 26, 1962. The new family moved to the Kewanee area where Raymond worked on a ranch and Marilyn started working at Young's Western Wear. In 1970, when Harry and Pauline retired, they moved out on the ranch south of Crookston. Marilyn was always busy. Besides helping on the ranch, she also started a new job at the First National Bank where she worked for 35 years and supported Linda and Scott with volleyball, football and rodeo. Never missing a game. Most family gatherings were held at Marilyn and Raymond's. She was a great cook and hostess. Her later years were filled with grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she cherished. She lost her beloved husband Raymond in 2010.
Marilyn's love of Jesus Christ and her dedication to the church was a big part of her life and has given her strength through the years.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elaine Marckx and brother Don Witte and her husband Raymond.
Marilyn is survived by daughter, Linda Jespersen and her son, Scott Cornish (Jan). Her sister, Yvonne Greene, Grandchildren Michelle, Amber, Darrell, Nate and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral service for Marilyn Robertson age 87 of Valentine will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM Our Savior Lutheran Church in Valentine. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 4th at 4 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines. Mrs. Robertson passed away on September 28, 2022 at the Rock County Long Term Care in Bassett.
