No injuries in Sunday morning train derailment outside of North Platte

North Platte, Neb. - No injuries were reported after a Sunday morning Union Pacific grain train derailed outside of North Platte according to officials. 

According to Union Pacific Spokesperson Robynn Tysve, the Sunday morning derailment occurred around 10:30am central time. The train that derailed was a loaded grain train. 

The derailment occurred near N Airport Rd and E Long School Rd and crews are on scene cleaning up the derailment. The N Airport Rd will be closed. Tysve stated to the POST that no one was hurt, and no hazmat is involved 

Local first responder agencies assisted on scene included the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, North Platte Police Department, North Platte Fire Department, Union Pacific.  

Sunday's derailment was the second one to occur in the greater Western Nebraska area when a Intermodel train derailed outside of Dix. That accident occurred around 7:30am.
